Fashion Doll
Designer Goes to the Dogs
Exton,
PA September 25, 2004 - Call it a twist
of fate, a coincidence, or just plain
serendipity. Whatever you call it, your
pet will call it heaven.
When
award-winning fashion doll designer Joyce
Reavey found herself out of a job in an
industry that appeared to be faltering,
she had no idea what she would do next.
Then one day, she had an epiphany. "I
was sitting at home with my 10-year old
son, who was looking through a dog magazine,
when he suggested we get a Chihuahua.
He handed me the magazine and when I saw
the picture of the adorable pups, a light
bulb literally went off in my head. That
day my son got a new best friend, and
I got a great business idea. Four months
later, I launched Pawsitively Posh."
Using
her vast experience designing upscale,
high-quality jewelry and fashion doll
costumes, Joyce set out to create a line
of upscale pet accessories that were unexpected
in the industry and beautifully designed
using only the finest fabrics and highest
quality craftsmanship. Accessories meant
to pamper, indulge, and baby the family
pet.
"There
are so many pet accessories currently
being introduced into the market, but
how many can boast they were inspired
by Faberge, or feature hand-stitched appliqués,
satin-linings, and fashion forward designs?"
In fact, her Fab Imperial Bed, inspired
by a Faberge egg and limited to only 350
pieces, is well on its way to selling
out.
If
these items sound like something you might
find in an upscale catalog or museum,
you're not too far off the mark. Joyce
credits influences of such timeless designers
as Faberge, Edith Head, Erte, and Dior
for her inspiration in creating these
one-of-a-kind products. "My thinking
was to bring elegant accessories to an
entirely new market."
She
seems to have found a niche in this ever
growing industry, which, according to
the American Pet Products Manufacturers
Association, has doubled in sales over
the past ten years to over $32.4B. Her
current line features a unique contemporary
look, with a touch of classic elegance.
Joyce's fresh perspective seems to be
putting a new spin on luxury pet items.
Best
selling items from the original line include
an adorable Puppy Nursery Set and a luxurious
furry bed in the shape of a Slipper, complete
with a Newspaper crinkle toy - a bed any
fashionable pet is sure to love.
Pawsitively
Posh designs will be featured at the upcoming
H. H. Backer 38th Annual Christmas Pet
Show in Chicago, October 8-10, and Joyce
is as excited as ever. "People smile
when they see my products - and use words
like fun, unique, and exquisite. I couldn't
be happier, except of course, when I'm
spoiling our loveable Chihuahua, Miles."

Pet Products
- the NEW Must-Have Giftable!
Giftware News Unleashes it's July Cover
Showcasing the Pawsitively Posh
Fab Imperial Bed
Exton,
PA (July 20, 2004) - Think the gift market
is going to the dogs? You're not alone.
Giftware News, a trade publication with
a circulation of over 22,000 specialty
gift retailers nationwide, thinks so too.
The cover of their July 2004 publication
features the newest designer pet bed by
Pawsitively Posh - the Fab Imperial Bed
- an upscale pet bed inspired by a Faberge
Egg, limited to only 350 worldwide. Reflecting
on the decision to feature a pet accessory
on the cover, John Saxtan, Editor-in-Chief
of Giftware News recently said, "We
are always looking for different gift
items to present to our audience, and
the pet category is definitely a growing
category for gift retailers. Pawsitively
Posh represents some of the most exciting
items we're seeing in this category today."
In fact, the publication now boasts two
issues a year devoted to pet gifts.
The
Pet Industry is currently a $32.4 billion
industry and will have doubled in size
in a decade. According to a study by the
American Pet Products Manufacturers Association,
60 percent of pet owners say they buy
gifts for their pets, while 98 percent
include their pets on holiday gift lists.
The gift industry has certainly taken
notice with pet accessories becoming the
"must-have" item every smart
specialty gift store owner wants and needs
to have on their store shelves today.
In fact, pet related items are becoming
more and more prevalent at annual gift
shows around the country as gift retailers
are recognizing this growing and profitable
trend.
"Pet
products are beginning to find their way
into gift stores, upscale hotels, and
even specialty home goods catalogs,"
said Debra DeForte, V.P. of Marketing
for Pawsitively Posh. "We receive
calls every day asking about our unique
product line - and not just from pet boutiques.
Our products offer consumers a way to
lavish their own unique style on their
pets, or an opportunity to purchase products
that their pets will love, but also coordinates
with their own home décor. The
cross-over of these pet accessories into
the gift industry makes perfect sense."
The
Pawsitively Posh line made its official
debut at the 16th Annual Pet Industry
Trade Show this past April to rave reviews.
Noted Angie McKaig, President of PamperedPuppy.com,
a pet focused website that boasts over
80,000 hits per month, "They are,
without a doubt, the most adorable plush
beds we've every run across
this
company does things that take my breath
away." With more and more people
treating their pets like family members,
this trend for unique and distinct pet
products sees no end in sight - and gift
retailers are wise to hop onto this growing
trend.
